I caused a Teency Weency International Incident at CDG

Sunday morning, Julie and I were pushing one cart loaded with all 6 of our huge bags piled up on it into the check in line, and by accident my small black/white carry-on fell off, and we did not notice.  After about half an hour in line, we got to check in and the lady says sorry, we need to shut down all check-ins at this terminal, there has been a report of unattended baggage and they need to evacuate this area.  I looked at our cart, and said oh my god Julie, where is my little b/w bag!!!  I quickly looked around, and saw some machine gun toting guards circling my poor little bag a few aisles away.  I yelled 'WAIT!!! thats my bag!" and ran over.

The matter was cleared up.  Mon Dieu!!!

I'm joining the FFMC fan club-- most exciting protest I ever saw!

FRENCH FEDERATION OF ANGRY BIKERS

On our last night in Paris we walked over to the left bank, very leisurely day, went to an open house for an art gallery building that we got invited to, and stopped during a rainstorm at a nice cafe (me, Julie and her niece Mary) just eating jambon et fromage with a very pleasant crowd, we spent about a couple hours there just talking, when we began to hear this ROAR-- seriously like a jet plane coming down the street -- it turned out to be mile after mile after mile of thousands of motorcylces roaring angrily down the street perpendicular to ours, the noise and commotion was like nothing I've ever seen before!!! it just kept GOING AND GOING AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS RODE BY.  wow!!!!  it must have lasted about 20 minutes to half hour, just imagine the street completely full side to side with cycles so loud and so angrily roaring and revving and honking and honking as they sped past on and on and on-- everyone in the street was fascinated, and of course we thought it had to do with the Sarkozy pension stuff, but I finally found out that it was a protest against some pending motorcyle laws. man oh man, it was exciting!!  damn!!!  I LOVED it.

Its even cooler when you put it to music like this guy:

Dinner Cruise on the Seine (m)

Captain Frick Frack was 10 minutes late, everyone waiting around not knowing what was going on, no one to meet us, no signs, crazy.
Julie, Lourdes and I took a dinner cruise on the Seine for Julie's birthday cadeau.  It was so lovely!  The food was fantastic, that's rare on these types of things I think.  As per my usual, I snuck on a plastic water bottle filled with wine so I didn't have to pay the equivalent of 15USD for one glass!   ha ha ha.

I loved the tiny cow on my steak

toast de trois.  sadly the foreshadowing makes me look like man-hands.

A New Idol Just Discovered, Popular in Paris (m)

(And I think she is from Wisconsin?)

The essential elements of style according to Iris Apfel:
  • Never take yourself or your outfit too seriously
  • Visit the animal kingdom
  • Consider the clergy
  • Travel widely
  • Go high and low
  • Don't fret about your age
  • Don't be afraid to stop traffic

Merde de Taureau! (m)

I just walked off the ghost tour that I was so excited for tonight, some punk ass bitch kid who was actually emanating waves of hate, seemingly from the fact that he had to be there with us, or perhaps because it was five females and this self hating male.  I could not waste one more minute of my life listening to this little punk.  You can bet I will be writing a scathing email to the operators of this tour demanding my hard earned euros back:

Goat Transfusions. Early Prosthetics. Marcel Marceau. (m)

First the Musée d’Histoire de la Médecine at the Descartes School, they say the oldest collection in Europe, then off to Pere Lachaise for some quiet time among the graves.  Unfortunately on my way in to the cemetery, some teen french kids yelled out at me with syrupy snarled lip derisive mockery  "OH JIM MORRISON, OH PLEASE, WHICH WAY TO JIM MORRISON!!"  but how could I explain that I was more interested in Oscar Wilde and Marcel Marceau?  Oh well.

Paris Day 2: Cheese & Zombies (m)

Today after dining on some delightful cheese, I was minding my own business, walking back to our aparment.  I chanced to hear some loud groans and screams and roaring vehicles one street over, and many people flashing cameras.  I thought it was yet another demonstration by the transportation workers,
but alors, it was in fact the "Zombie Walk 2010"!!
(I looked it up when I got home)  This is my kind of town!

Speaking of a couple of old bags

Since I'm a little "light" on handmade items this week,
Lets honor Halloween past and future
Julie and me Halloween 2003
at Tom Campa's Party

Becky was so amazing in her
afro and makeup, what a beauty.

Ed and Henry catch some waves (Julie)

The boys had a great day at the beach, today. The weather and the surf was perfect. It was a crappy summer of fog up here in Ventura, but now that's all forgotten.  They're finally getting to work on those tans.

A couple of old bags! (Julie)

Here's a couple of my old bags. Inspired from my childhood growing up in the sticks - HILLBILLY GIRL. why am I so obsessed with Hillbillies?  Maybe it was the Beverly Hillbillies that got it going. LOVE that show. I always had such a crush on Jethro. AND I always wanted to be Ellie Mae. In fact I was her for Halloween one year. Ha Ha... and Marni was Tippi Hedren  from "the Birds" Oh my God, that was a spectacular costume, Marni!
The other bag is an early bear bag. I was into bears for a long time but I had to move on for reasons I can't get into! This was always a favorite of mine, kind of like an old "blanket" to me.
